Faith: Dreamside #1 (of 4) review: Faith is back

Faith is back and so too is writer Jody Houser! With Faith: Dreamside #1 we get the Faith pop culture humor and quips and all of the wonderful lighthearted action that we’ve come to love about a Faith book.

This issue sees Faith dealing with the fallout of being framed for murder (from the last Faith series). What is a hero supposed to do in that situation? Especially when you have power that can do so much good for the world. Sometimes, you just have to do what is right over what else is right, like helping Monica Jim (Animalia) with an issue she is having versus going willingly with the police.

Monica thinks that Faith can help her out with a ghost problem but Faith hasn’t ever really dealt with ghosts before so enter Dr. Mirage, one of the greatest Valiant Universe guest stars lately. For awhile it was Punk Mambo guesting everywhere but lately Dr. Mirage has really been doing the rounds and I like it.

The art by MJ Kim is fun and looks great, colors by Jordie Bellaire are perfectly suited to the book and once again, Dave Sharpe is doing the lettering (that’s 3 books reviewed with him just this week)! Valiant, give this guy a raise for the workload!!!

Wrap Up

This looks like it will be a fun 4 issue mini-series that just hits all the right marks that a Faith book should hit. I’m looking forward to number 2!
