The number of gaming chairs out on the market would probably surprise you. I didn’t know just how many there are out there but the market is large and a good gaming chair is important for many users. The EWin Flash XL Series is just one of the models available from EWin.

The company sent over the EWin Flash XL series after finding a few of our other gaming product reviews. While this EWin gaming chair is intended for gaming users, I evaluated it more heavily as an office chair more than a PC gaming chair. While I did use it to game in, I found it much more useful for my long hours behind a monitor writing tech news and reviews.

So read on for the full review of the EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair.

Design

The EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair design isn’t far off from the competition. Most of these gaming chairs have an aggressive sporty look to them and it’s no different here. The chair features an adjustable head pillow and adjustable lumbar pillow which operate on a snapped elastic band, again the same as other chairs.

These chairs are designed to look like a racing car seat and they accomplish that effect very well. The bright colors and pattern designs really lend it to the racing look and feel. Not to mention the bolster support for your hips and wrapped backrest that hugs your sides.

The entire chair is wrapped in faux leather that feels nice to the touch and the stitching all around is thick and well done. The inner core of this chair is made from a high-density memory foam that is encasing a steel frame for a durable and strong build quality. The steel frame and steel five-star base do give this chair a hefty weight. I didn’t see a quoted weight but I’d have to guess 55lbs if not more.

Both the headrest and lumbar pillow are wrapped in the same faux leather but feel cushy and comfortable. I appreciate that the lumbar support pillow isn’t super thick, like my last gaming chair. I found the last chair’s pillow uncomfortable to use at all. I do use this lumbar support from time to time but generally speaking, use it without.

The headrest is also comfortable but I generally do not use it at all. Both of these components are adjustable for a good fit and slide up and down and elastic bands, which are clipped around the back.

The five-star base is nice and wide and is able to support 330lbs of weight, which I appreciate since I am a bigger guy. The lever under the chair controls the seat height, simply stand to bring to the desired height or sit in it to push to the desired height.

The side lever controls the backrest allowing you to adjust the back from 85 to 155 degrees. I’m not sure why anyone would want to be at 155 degrees but the ability is there. There is also a tilt lock and tilt control lever which controls the chairs tilt independently of the backrest tilt.

The arms have 4-points of adjustability, EWin calls this 4D. You can slide them back and forth allowing you to get closer to the desk. You can slide them in and out for a snugger or looser fit. You can slide them up and down for height comfort. And you can rotate them to get a good angle for your sitting style.

Overall, the EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair has an incredible build quality, nice design, and great functionality.

Assembly

The EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair is fairly easy to put together, but I would recommend having a second person to help mount the seat pan to the gas cylinder.

The first thing you should do is unpack the whole box and lay out your parts. The best place to get started is putting the backrest and seat pan together. To do this, just remove the Allen screws from the sides of the backrest and then fit it to the seat pan brackets. This is a little tricky as the backrest is nicely padded and it took some manipulation to get it into place.

Once you have it in place, put one of your Allen screws into one bracket and get it started. Move over to the opposite bracket and put a screw in place there. This will help stabilize the backrest so you don’t have to hold it as much. You can then place the last two screws and then tighten them all down.

You can then place the lever assembly on the bottom of the seat pan. Just lay the chair on its back and find the Allen screws on the bottom. Place the lever assembly plate and line it up to the holes. Start by placing one screw in one of the top holes and then another opposite on the bottom. This will hold the plate in place without having to hold it. Place the last two screws and then tighten all four of them in a crisscross pattern so you tighten it down with even pressure.

At this point, your backrest and seat pan should be fully assembled. You can then snap the casters on to the five-star base. This is pretty easy but does take a bit of muscle to do. After you get the casters on you can place the gas cylinder in the center and then slip the cylinder cover over it.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll need to mount the assembled backrest and seat pan to the gas cylinder. It’s here I think you’ll benefit from a second set of hands. The assembly is heavy and it’s much easier having someone guide you onto the cylinder.

The headrest and lumbar pillows were already pre-installed so there was nothing to do there. Overall, this is a very easy assembly job with all the tools you need provided, even white gloves.

Ease of Use

The EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair is super simple to use. If you have used any office chair this shouldn’t be difficult. It’s really only a matter of dialing in the adjustments to your liking. Once you have that done, you’re likely never going to change them.

Performance/Comfort

The comfort of the EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair, which can be said of any chair, is going to be subjective. The company provides lumbar and head pillows for added comfort but I found I used the chair more without either.

I appreciated that the lumbar pillow was thinner than other gaming chairs because they are mostly too bulky and uncomfortable for me. The EWin lumbar support was tolerable and I use it from time to time but most of the time, don’t use it.

The headrest pillow is also comfy but only used it when leaning back at a good angle. Otherwise, it also didn’t see much use. Honestly, I liked the comfort of this chair without the pillows. I felt the padding was great on this chair and very comfortable. I loved the hip support and how the backrest and seat pan is molded just right to hug your hips and your back.

Overall, the EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair is far more comfortable than any regular Staples office chair.

Price/Value

The EWin Flash XL Series gaming chair is priced at US$449 but you can get 20% off this or any EWin chair if you use the coupon code techaeris at checkout. That brings this chair down to $359 — which is a fantastic deal. Gaming chairs aren’t cheap in general but the EWin is worth every penny, especially if you’re at your desk all day or playing games all night.

Wrap Up

Most gaming chairs are going to be around this price point. I’ve only used one other brand, and it was good but I believe EWin is better. The support in the hips and back is great and the padding is comfy. It’s easy to put together and operate. I’d recommend any of this company’s chairs easily.
